A Medicare annual wellness visit (AWV) is a fully covered, no-cost benefit for your Peoples Health patients. It’s a valuable tool to assist you in developing comprehensive care plans, in that it focuses on maintaining a full health history, identifying health risks and implementing personalized screening schedules. The AWV is also a way to enhance patient engagement and promote better health through preventive care.
We encourage you to conduct an AWV with your Peoples Health patients once each year. Medicare pays for one initial AWV per patient per lifetime and one subsequent AWV per patient for each 12-month period thereafter. The initial AWV establishes required elements; subsequent AWVs are to update elements.
